The International Red Cow Club (IRCC) was formed
in 1989 with a foundation group of 8 members.
The concept was the "brainchild" of the late William
(Bill) Thompson of Eskdale, Australia. After Bill's untimely death
in 1989 his daughter, Karen Moroney took over the directorship of
his business and continued to expand the IRCC concept. Today, the
IRCC has 22 registered members.
All those involved have an involvement with dairy
cattle and to be more specific -red dairy cattle. Many red breed organisations
or those simply involved in the dairy industry see the IRCC as providing
a platform for members to come together on a regular basis to discuss
the genetic progress of their breeds, to promote and exchange genetics
and to create linkages around the globe on a business and breeding
basis.
Members of the International Red Cow Club meet every
3 years at a nominated venue around the globe. The conference was
held in Australia in October 2000 and was the fourth conference to
be held and the first such gathering in the Southern Hemisphere. In
May 2005 the 6th IRCC was hosted by the SA Red Society of South Africa.

International Red Cow Conference Sweden-Denmark July 2007
Greetings from the organisation committee for the 2007 IRCC Conference.
It will be our pleasure to welcome you in Denmark and Sweden for the International Red Cow Conference 2007.
For some decades, Denmark and Sweden have been the leading countries breeding for Total Merit Index (TMIU). This has been possible due to the unique and comprehensive registration of health and management traits, the result being a cow bred to give the most profit to the farmer. As a result, today both Danish Red and Swedish Red cattle are in demand around the world.
The red breeds in Denmark and Sweden are among the leading populations world wide for use in both pure bred and crossbreeding programs.
This conference and tour is a unique opportunity for you to see the cows bred under the TMI and during the tour to visit the National Show in Denmark including exhibition of daughter groups from both Danish and Swedish elite sires. This conference will also give participants the opportunity to meet leading scientists and learn their ideas on the red cow and her future.
Please take a close look at the program on offer and register now by making contact with the appropriate person listed.
We look forward to seeing you in July 2007.
Yours Hosts,
The Swedish Red Breed and Svensk Avel
The Danish Red Breed and Dansire.
