| Who do you think are the best bulls to use for cross breeding available at the moment ? |

| The best bulls for a 3rd cross, with Jersey x Holsteins, have to have minimal holstein content. I saw some fantastic A Linne daughters in sweden, which would throw good udders and give plenty of production. St Hallebo would add strength and components to any cross breeding program. I saw him in sweden at the bull station and he was a very strong/wide bull. We are milking some Larsgard daughters, and I think he would be a handy cheaper bull for cross breeding as well. We are also milking a crossbred ARBBLAIR daughter, that is a really big improvement on her mother. ARBBLAIR's dam was one on the standout cows in the Bosgowan herd. |

| The finnish bull Asmo Tosikko should be an exceptional bull for cross breeding. We have just started using him as he has a brilliant production index, excellent mastitis rating, top udders and a very quiet temperament rating. As far as I can see he has no holstein content so he will be a popular choise for Jersey x Holstein cows |

| Peterslund worked excellent over Jersey X Holsteins as 3rd breed,with the best udders you have ever seen for us . We have had great ones with Orraryd/Krejstad/Botans, have some Larsgard and J Valon to calve down yet but look also great. Haven't had many fail actually . Most of our 3 way crosses have got incalf on first straw of semen Anually which is of couse a bonus!!! |

| Of the daughters I've seen from bulls available, for over HF x J cows,ARBBobdown,ArbMawson ArbBonjovi, Peterslund and Orraryd are the ones that will consistently deliver what you want. GA PT bull ARBLEX looks really good for over HFxJ cows, April proofs will tell. Over Holstien cows, ArbBonjovi, Botans,B Jurist,ArbMawson and Orraryd are the most consistent. GA PT bulls ARBLex and ARBThatch look good for over HF cows, so hopefully they get good proofs in April and will be available. Of the new bulls, Tosikko looks good, also A Linne calves are growing well, so time will tell with him.. Cheers Steve |
